Stewards of Public Lands Agenda

1.      Welcome and introductions: Co-chair Diane Joens
2.      Approve minutes of the Sept. 25 meeting in Cottonwood
3.      Report on Oct. 14 cleanup of Highway 260/Black Canyon Wash shooting area
4.      Recognition of and thanks to volunteers, businesses and partner agencies for Oct. 14 cleanup: Arizona Game and Fish, Town of Clarkdale, U.S. Forest Service, Gardenscapes, Yavapai County Community Services, Tim Costello for reconnaissance, others.
5.      Cleanup planning for Nov. 18 cleanup in Lake Montezuma: reconnaissance (Jim Sweitzer, Dex Allen), dumpster (Arid Disposal Service and Yavapai County Forest Project Funds), dump truck (still needed), loader (Salt River Project - SRP), volunteer loader operator, pickups, trailers, posters distribution, media release, refreshments, safety talk, other planning. Cooperators: SRP, Yavapai County via the Forest Project Funds Grant, Cocopai Resource Conservation & Development, U.S. Forest Service, Beaver Creek Kiwanis, Lake Montezuma Property Owners’ Association, United Rentals, Arid Disposal Service and others.
6.      Review/update of winter and spring meeting and cleanup calendar dates
7.      Update on Game and Fish/Yavapai County Sheriff No Dumping signs project
8.      Yavapai County Forest Project Funds grant for 2007, application deadline Dec. 1
9.      Miscellaneous citizen and/or law enforcement reports on illegal dumping
10.    Need volunteer to track acreage and tons collected at each cleanup. Need to go back about a year, and then keep all future records.
11.    Vote on planning and expenditures for Yavapai County Forest Project Funds Grant—Cocopai/Stewards of Public Lands Action Team, approve saw rental grant expense and Web site grant expenses.
12.    Other business for the good of the order
13.    Next planning meeting, set date, time, place, agenda items. Items: 1. Ideas, plans, action on how to prevent illegal dumping 2. More concrete monitoring plans by Stewards volunteers to help law enforcement with illegal dumping problems
14.    Adjourn
