Photo Album 2, Mingus Avenue Extension Celebration

Community members turned out in force to help Yavapai County and the City of Cottonwood dedicate the all-new Mingus Avenue Extension regional roadway on Saturday. The weather was beautiful and bicyclists, rollerbladers and hikers "christened" the new stretch of roadway after the ribbon cutting ceremony. The two-mile stretch of road includes the longest bridge in Yavapai County (1000 feet) and considerations of the special environment it traverses. Special considerations were required and accommodated for the riparian area beneath the bridge and the Arizona Cliffrose habitat that prospers only in the limestone outcroppings and shelves in the Verde Formation in the area. Many thanks to Yavapai County Supervisor Chip Davis for spearheading this project to completion; County Public Works management Richard Straub, Phil Bourdon and many other dedicated county staff members; Mayor Jauregui; Brian Mickelsen; Tim Costello and the many dedicated Cottonwood city staff members who all worked together to bring this project to fruition. The cooperation among all the entities was phenomenal!
